Teppanyaki at half the price?

Yep my fellow readers you read that correctly.

I am a big fan of the food that is served at Teppanyaki style restaurants. But finding a place that I can get just as much food, no show, at half the price?? Count this gal in!!

In Lehi just behind the Texas Roadhouse is a little place called Hibachi House. I really wanted noodles and sushi so I decided to stop in for lunch. The first time I went in, I was super impressed at the prices to begin with. The lady and gentleman behind the counter were super nice. I made sure to wish them a happy Chinese New Year.  You can order to go, or stay in to eat if you like.

If you go in between 2 and 5 Monday through Friday you can get 50% off sushi!! That is a win win situation. I have been in several times since the first time I tried Hibachi house. My favorite part?? The mustard sauce! If you get just enough of it on your meat/noodles/vegetables it burns your nose! I love it. The noodles are always good, the steak is always cooked just how I love it, the sushi is always good.

When you visit a place such as Teppanyaki, you will be spending about 20$+ a person. Not bad for special occasions. Sometimes you get a craving though, and you might not want to spend that much. Hibachi House is perfect for that craving. For a combo (noodles, veggies, steak) you're looking at spending about 10.95$.

I will be visiting this place many times to come in the future, I suggest you do as well.

Tepanyaki!!

There are very few places that I can list on my "most favorite places to have dinner" list. This isn't because I am picky, it's just because I really love to just eat everywhere. However, there is Tepanyaki! There is a bit of a history behind my love for this food. In New Jersey, down the street from my home was a Japanese restaurant called Izumi. My friend and I ate there at least once a month because we loved it so much. The waiters and hostess knew who we were each time. Some of the nicest people ever! The flavors at this particular teppanyaki restaurant were mouth watering, it was something we looked foward to every time. I also have yet to find a spicy mustard like Izumi had.

Fast forward ... or rewind, to three years ago when I moved back to Utah. I had to find a place that was at least a little similar. Tepanyaki in Bountiful existed before it burned down. Then one opened in Cleafield, Provo, West Jordan, Lehi, and Salt Lake City. If you have never been let me give you a run down. You sit at a table that is actually a very large griddle with about 10 seats around it. Your waiter takes your order which is usually something like noodles or rice and shrimp, chicken, or some cut of steak. I prefer a mix of shrimp and strip steak and noodles! You start with some clear soup (yum!) and a salad with ginger type dressing. Your chef comes out with his little cart and cooks in front of you. There is something absoultely appealing about having your food cooked in front of you to order and knowing you can eat it hot on your plate. For those of you in an area with Benihana's it's the same thing but with better taste and friendlier cooks!! (and non corporate)

Even though I have been many times the onion volcano never get's old, nor does the little jokes the chefs tell as they prepare your food. At the Tepanyaki I usually like to order a little bit of sushi as well. It is a little pricey, and I usually go for a special occasion unless I have a craving. I have tried other places in Utah but still Tepanyaki is at the top of the list.

Where is Emmett??

I feel like I've been inconsistent with my posting, but until someone pays me to go eat at restaurants and review them... I have to do in on my own time and when I have some money.

That out of the way. Let's get down to business!

I have done several blogs about burger places. Millies, Pace's, Purple Turtle, and Parkers. Today I add another. Emmett and Ethels use to just be a little small shack on Main street in Lehi called Emmetts. There was about 10 menu items (approximately) and if you knew someone named Emmett you could get a free shirt or something like that. Well, they closed up shop because they built an actual building for them to house in and they changed the name.

I was interested to go in and see what was different. The menu had expanded as did the prices. They have quite a few booths and tables you can sit at with your family or date or by yourself. The walls are painted with local landmarks (for those of you that don't know the Lehi Roller Mills is where Footloose was filmed and this restaurant is just down the street)

I looked through all the burgers and sandwiches. I asked the cashier her favorite and she said the most popular was the ranch burger. I went with the Rueben because pastrami was sounding tasty. I always like to try a few items and yes it makes me look like a pig, but I don't eat it all. I am sad to say this time I barely ate any of it. I like to give EVERYONE a fair chance, this is what this blog is about. I was really sad this time after the bill was paid and the first bite was taken. I also ordered onion rings and a lime rickey. That is grape flavor, lime flavor, and sprite. I think its only in Utah, but if you have seen it elsewhere let me know!! I also got a Mississippi mud shake that was chocolate with marshmallows, brownie pieces, and walnuts. I was shocked when my tab came to 17$!! It really wasn't that much food, no more than I have ordered from any of the other afore mentioned burger places.

I only live about 12 minutes from this place. By the time I got home my sandwich was really soggy and slightly burned. The meat was very nice and salty though. The shake was just ok. The onion rings were also just ok. The best part of my visit was probably the sample of the hard ice cream they have with honeycomb bits (no not the cereal) in it. I would definitely only go back for that.

I guess if you don't mind quality and price you could stop in here for something quick. If you want value, my suggestion is just drive east 15 minutes.
